53. Maui Marathon

The Maui Marathon, first held in 1971 and thus the longest continuously running race event in Hawaii as well as the oldest marathon west of the Mississippi, returns to Ka‘anapali on April 26, 2026. The course – as well as the half marathon – features a fast, flatter out-and-back route along the Honoapi‘ilani Highway (Route 30), with an impressive ocean backdrop. The 5 km races maintain the familiar course. In the past, the marathon has been recognized by Runner’s World as one of the “Top 10 Most Scenic Marathons” and as “#10 Destination Marathon in North America”; the half marathon received the designation in 2020 as “Best Jaw-Dropping, Breathtaking, I’m-Never-Going-Back-to-Work Running Trips to Take” ([mauimarathonsignup.com](https://www.mauimarathonsignup.com/Race/Info/HI/Lhain/MauiMarathonHalfMarathon?utm_source=openai)).
