24. WVV Marathon Würzburg

The WVV Marathon Würzburg will take place on May 10, 2026, in the historic city of Würzburg, Germany – start and finish at the Congress-Centrum, organized by Stadtmarathon Würzburg e.V. The running routes lead in two laps along the Main through the old town and past landmarks such as the Residenz, the Kiliansdom, and the Juliusspital, acoustically accompanied by around 30 bands, and invite flexibility with the option to switch to the half marathon distance after the first lap. The marathon was first initiated in 2001 by founder Michael Littmann and has since developed into one of the most popular spring races in Franconia. In the previous year 2025, around 6,000 runners reached the finish line, accompanied by light rain in the morning – ideal conditions that contributed to a good atmosphere and minimal medical interventions. Unlike a lottery system, here everyone runs according to the "first come, first served" principle; early registrants benefit from lower entry fees depending on the registration time (e.g., marathon: €69 for registration by December 31, 2025, €74 by March 31, 2026, €79 by May 3, 2026). The course is nearly flat and paved, with large sections running along the riverbank; no significant elevation changes are to be expected.
