27. VVO Oberelbe-Marathon

The 27th VVO Oberelbe Marathon will take place on April 26, 2026, and is one of the most scenic marathon events in Germany. The route covers 42.195 km along the picturesque Elbe Cycle Path – starting between the rock formations of Saxon Switzerland around Königstein, through the historic old town of Pirna, past the "Blue Wonder" and the Elbe castles, to the center of Dresden with views of the Frauenkirche, Semperoper, and the Austrian Palace – emotionally and visually impressive. The minimal elevation difference makes the run possible amidst the picturesque natural backdrop, appealing to both ambitious record hunters and recreational runners. At the finish line, the Heinz-Steyer Stadium awaits with its historic flair – the finish through the new marathon gate promises goosebumps moments. For many years, more than 5,000 participants have regularly completed the marathon, highlighting the event's popularity.
