16. Skat City Marathon Altenburg

The 16th Skatstadtmarathon Altenburg on June 13, 2026, offers runners and walkers a versatile and vibrant sports event in the historic Skat city in eastern Thuringia. The race combines city flair with nature – asphalt, cobblestones, and forest paths create a varied course profile with challenging climbs, for example, up to the tea house and past the theater square, castle, and triumphal arch. The event consists of various competitions: marathon, half marathon, 13.3 km, 5.4 km run, pair relay marathon (2×HM), as well as shorter student and children's runs and walking disciplines. Registration takes place online starting October 31, 2025, with fees tiered until on-site late registration. Participation is free for all registrations from the year 2007. In the previous year's edition 2025, an impressive 4,296 participants were registered, including many children, teenagers, and recreational athletes – a clear indication of the broad appeal and increasing significance of the event. The event combines sports, culture, and great atmosphere through an attractive supporting program at Altenburger Markt with live music, samba groups, and a children's festival. Medals, refreshments, warm showers, massage, timing, certificates, and gifts included – everything is part of the event package.
